Quotes By Gautama Buddha

Craving and desire are the cause of all unhappiness. Everything sooner or later must change, so do not become attached to anything. Instead devote...

In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.

Your mind is a powerful thing. When you filter it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.

If you let cloudy water settle, it will become clear. If you let your upset mind settle, your course will also become clear.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

A man asked Lord Buddha "I want happiness." Lord Buddha said - first remove "I" that's ego. Then remove "Want" that's desire. See now you are left with only "Happiness".

Love in the past is only a memory. Love in the future is only a fantasy. True love lives in the here and now.

Pain is certain, suffering is optional.

Just as a solid rock is not shaken by the storm, even so the wise are not affected by praise or blame.

Good men and bad men differ radically. Bad men never appreciate kindness shown them, but wise men appreciate and are grateful. Wise men try to express their appreciation and gratitude by some return of kindness, not only to their benefactor, but to everyone else

When you come upon a path

that brings benefit

and happiness to all,

follow this course

as the moon

journeys through the stars.

Believe nothing, O monks, just because you have been told it, or it is commonly believed, or because it is traditional or because you yourselves have imagined it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect for the teacher. But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings - that doctrine believe and cling to and take as your guide.

All life is temporary

Why worry about anything that's only temporary

People with opinions just go around bothering each other.
